Job description
This role is part of the Merck Business Services (MBS) organization. As Sourcing Manager – Plant Services Americas, you will directly support the sourcing requirements of our sites across Site Operations categories (MRO, Site Services & Utilities), in full coordination with the global Operations category teams. This position is responsible for leading sourcing initiatives with functional business partners. As a key link between internal stakeholder groups, Procurement, and external suppliers, the Sourcing Manager is accountable for understanding key business drivers and ensuring that stakeholder requirements are fulfilled. You will implement or develop sourcing strategies, standard operating procedures, sustainable cost improvement processes, and transparent cost reporting. You should be experienced in extensive cross-functional collaboration and use of strategic sourcing best practices to maximize value in terms of cost savings/avoidance, demand management, risk reduction, quality and performance, and supplier market innovation. The role holder conducts spend and market analyses, identifies opportunities, develops category strategies, leads cross-functional sourcing teams, negotiates contracts and manages key supplier relationships. The role holder is an energetic, flexible team player capable of forming strong relationships throughout the entire organization, in addition to successfully leveraging resources, processes and tools to achieve desired outcomes.
Main responsabilities
Evaluate and select suppliers through a rigorous assessment process, considering factors such as financial stability, quality, capacity, and ethical standards. Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, ensuring they meet quality, cost, and delivery expectations. Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure and report on sourcing and procurement performance. Utilize data and analytics to drive decision-making. Negotiate conditions and conclude project and framework contracts. Stay informed about market trends, industry developments, and emerging technologies to make informed decisions and identify potential risks and opportunities. Drive cost optimization initiatives through negotiation and continuous analysis of market trends. Identify opportunities for cost reduction and risk mitigation. Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure and report on sourcing and procurement performance. Utilize data and analytics to drive decision-making and process improvements. Eliminate and mitigate risks for project costs and time. Ensure that procurement activities adhere to local and international regulations and company policies. Maintain compliance with ethical and sustainability standards. Oversee the creation, review, and management of procurement contracts, ensuring they are legally compliant. Continuous Improvement: Proactively identify opportunities for process improvement, efficiency gains, and technology adoption within the procurement function. Foster the use of digital systems by implementing, managing and coordinating respective global sourcing tools The focus will be on establishing a key link to business stakeholders and suppliers. You will collaborate closely with members of several departments (such as Site Operations, Global Engineering, Controlling and Legal) in other cross-functional teams and global projects to build and develop an effective partnership.
Requirements
At least five years of global and intercultural professional experience in Procurement for Site Services, Utilities, MRO and/or related areas of indirect spend. Well-founded knowledge of indirect sourcing related technical materials & services Experience with different pricing models (target pricing, lump sum, fix fee, hourly rates, etc.)
Advanced skills in MS Office and affinity with digital systems.
Experience with RFX process and tools and ERP systems
Fluent in English (with excellent communication skills written and verbally), Portuguese is a plus Conflict resolution and negotiation High proficiency in coordination and prioritization Experience in managing difficult stakeholder landscapes Strong communication and change management skills Capable of forming strong relationships throughout the entire organization Strong identification with a diverse, inclusive, and multinational working culture Willingness to leave comfort zones and think out of the box
Work Schedule
Monday to Friday 09:00 to 18:00hs. | Hybrid.
